SCDI News in April 2026

SCDI presents to readers the outstanding news of April 2026.

SCDI’s community health initiatives featured at the One Health Exhibition by the Embassy of France in Vietnam

In the spirit of the One Health Summit held in Lyon (France) from April 5 to 7, the Embassy of France in Vietnam also organized an exhibition highlighting cooperation between France and Vietnam to promote the One Health approach to improve human, animal, and environmental health.

At the exhibition, SCDI’s community health activities were introduced as part of contributions toward interdisciplinary and sustainable public health approaches. Over the years, the support and partnership of French agencies and organizations have helped SCDI expand community-based initiatives, strengthen access to services, and improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities.

In the coming period, under the ASEACA project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and coordinated by CIRAD, SCDI will continue working with partners to strengthen research, data sharing, and early prevention tools, particularly for zoonotic diseases, while promoting community engagement within the One Health approach.

CSET in Nghe An continues efforts to support people affected by tuberculosis

In April, members of the Community System to End TB (CSET) in Nghe An continued conducting household visits and providing support to people affected by tuberculosis despite the hot weather.

Alongside emotional encouragement, CSET members also connected patients with nutritional and financial support to help reduce treatment burdens. Community communication activities on tuberculosis prevention and care were also regularly organized, contributing to greater public understanding and gradually reducing stigma toward people affected by tuberculosis.

Through these ongoing efforts, CSET continues to contribute to early case detection, timely connection to care, and improved treatment outcomes within the community.

Diverse activities for children in the Breaking the Cycle program

Throughout April, activities within SCDI’s Breaking the Cycle program took place across various locations, offering children opportunities to learn, connect, and gain new experiences through educational, recreational, and career-oriented activities.

In Hanoi, high school students participated in an experiential learning visit to the University of Languages and International Studies as part of the Hyundai Jump School program, where they explored career-oriented activities and interacted with volunteers and peers. Children in the program also had the opportunity to meet and interact with football legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink during an event organized in Hanoi as part of Chelsea Football Club’s international fan engagement program.

The framework focuses on key priorities, including zoonotic disease prevention, antimicrobial resistance control, food safety, rabies prevention, and integrating environmental and climate factors into disease response efforts.

Participating in the Partnership Framework provides SCDI with opportunities to strengthen collaboration with domestic and international partners while contributing community-based experiences to the development and implementation of sustainable One Health solutions in Vietnam.
