For many children born into the cycle of poverty, having a dream can sometimes feel out of reach. Through the “Breaking the Cycle” program, SCDI continues to accompany children, encouraging and nurturing their dreams so they can hold onto hope and reach for a brighter future.
Since May 2025, the “Adopting a Dream” initiative, launched by HSBC and Aide et Action (AEA), has created a bridge for children to share their dreams and receive support. The question “What is your dream?” has become a familiar part of group sessions, giving children the chance to open up about what they truly wish for.
Within just one month, more than 70 dreams were submitted, and 40 have already been promised support. This might be medical treatment or surgery to improve a child’s health; an alarm clock, school supplies, or a uniform to help them feel confident at school; or even a repaired kitchen, a home lit up by a new battery, or covered electricity bills. Though simple, these gifts bring real and lasting changes, helping children’s dreams take flight and become reality.
Ahead of the new school year, HSBC has also prepared thoughtful gifts for children who submitted their dreams, providing them with better learning conditions, health, and confidence. When a dream is named and supported in time, children gain not only the tools to attend school, but also lasting motivation to keep learning, to set higher goals, and to believe their efforts are recognized.
