      After 4 years of implementation, SANL CD10/CD15 had come to an end. To send the sincerest thanks to CBOs who took part in the project, SCDI held a Gala Night and a Tribute day in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province on December 17th and 18th, 2015 with the participation of 12 CBOs in Vietnam.

      From May 4 to 8, 2016, SCDI in collaboration with the Hanoi Medical School organized an Inter-university Diploma training on addiction treatment.  30 participants came from different medical universities in Vietnam.

      On May 15, 2016, in Hanoi, Nguyen Su Yen Mi from Can Tho was crowned Miss Transgender Star. SCDI was honored to be the Diamond Sponsor, collaborating with the Vietnam Network of Transgender in organizing the contest.

      In March 2016, Loving Milk, a program initiated by SCDI with the donation from Danone Vietnam CO., LTD, had provided more than 43 tons of power milk for more than 20,000 disadvantaged children in 40 provinces in Vietnam.

      On 13th June 2015, doctors and nurses from Nang Moi clinic has provided mobile SRH services for 518 people in Phuc Tan ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.

      From 12th April to 17th May 2015, Nang Moi clinic had collaborated with Cam Giang district’s health clinic to deliver SRH services for low-income women from 7 communes of Cam Dien, Cam Hung, Lai Cach, Cam Dinh, Ngoc Lien, Cam Hung, Cam Phuc and Cam Hoang.

      The establishment of Vietnam Network of Community on TB Control
      In Vietnam, while key affected populations actively and strongly participate in HIV prevention, community’s movement in Tuberculosis control is rather quiet. With efforts of a number of concerned organizations such as the Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the community has paid attention to TB activities starting with the self-nomination of community delegates as TB patient representatives in the Global Fund’s Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM).

      In the context that HIV/AIDS remains prevalent, resources for HIV response are largely reduced, the sustainability of community-base organizations are strongly affected, and several barriers for PLHIV to access to services exist, this year Annual Meeting of the Vietnam Civil Society Partnership Platform on AIDS, organized in Da Nang from 12th – 14th November 2014, has fulfilled the needs for experience sharing and learning of VCSPA members.

      On November 5th, 2015, Bac Giang’s Department for Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the People Committee organized an opening ceremony for a new community drug treatment site located in Da Mai’s commune health clinic, Bac Giang province.

      A workshop on the roles and effectiveness of Community Social Volunteer Teams (CSVT) was held in Da Nang on December 12th, 2015 to summarize capacity building activities as well as introduce the Volunteer Handbook, and the indicators for success for the CSVT system in the country.

      In order to strengthen the capacity to support community-based drug treatment, SCDI organized a training on organizing and facilitation skills for 10 community-based drug counselling, support and treatment and a voluntary drug treatment in Bac Giang.

      Department for Social Vices Prevention (DSVP) and SCDI organized a workshop on effective drug prevention and development of drug prevention strategies.

      This is part of the collaboration between People’s Committees of Khanh Hoa and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the Advisory Group to the Chairperson of the National Committee on AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution, and SCDI on scaling up the implementation of the Renovation Plan on Drug Treatment through developing voluntary and community-based drug treatment.
