      On the evening of April 12th, 2017, at the People's Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), a seminar on implementation of the model "Support and harm reduction for female sex workers (FSW) at the service establishments" in District 1 and Ho Chi Minh City. The seminar was organized by HCMC Department of Social Vices Prevention, SCDI and People's Committee of District 1.

      The “Saving the Future – Innovative Strategies to Control HIV Infection among Young people who Use Drugs in Vietnam” has completed the initial study and moved to the next phase of developing an effective intervention strategy for young people who use drugs. In March 10th, 2017, a conference has been held in Fortuna hotel, Hanoi to announce the initial research results.

      At the IAS 2017 - the largest annual Conference on HIV Science in Paris, France, SCDI honorably presented the results of the project "Protect the Future - New Strategy to control infection. HIV infection among drug users in Vietnam ", with the participation of Dr. Khuat Thi Hai Oanh and Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh , and representatives from Hai Phong Medical university.

      On or around Monday 26th June 2017 - International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, people gathered in more than 130 cities from 69 countries across the world to take part in the fourth Support. Don’t Punish “Global Day of Action”. In Asia and Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Minh Trang - VNPUD Coordinator and Mrs. Pham Thi Minh - Head of VNPUD Executive Board, representative of ANPUD Executive Board, along with CBOs members took part in the campaign.

      Within the framework of the VUSTA - HIV/AIDS Prevention Project, on June 5th-6th, 2017, SCDI, in collaboration with the Provincial AIDS Committee (PAC) of Hai Phong City, jointly organized the Workshop "Supporting people living with HIV in Hai Phong in accessing HIV treatment through health insurance" at Hai Quan Hotel, 5 Ly Tu Trong, Hong Bang, Hai Phong city.

      Patient with special HIV infection received successful heart surgery
      On May 18th, doctors from the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Department of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Việt Nam-Germany Hospital) successfully conducted an eight-hour heart surgery on a female patient with the HIV virus. This is also the first case of rescued Marfan syndrome with HIV infection in Vietnam.

      From May 13th to May 17th, the 25th Harm Reduction International Conference took place in Montreal, Canada. The meeting was attended by INPUD, which included representatives of drug users' organizations in eight regions around the world, including ANPUD and VNPUD. Ms. Nguyen Minh Trang, VNPUD Coordinator and Ms. Pham Thi Minh, Head of VNPUD Executive Board, representative of ANPUD Executive Board, attended the conference.

      Community consultation on draft of Gender Transition Law
      In order to develop a gender transition law that addresses the humane approach, thus enables transgender communities to exercise their rights and to be protected by law, on May 12, 2017, at the Central Guest House, 8 Chu Van An, Hanoi, the Public Consultation Workshop was held with the Draft Policy Impact Assessment Report of the Transgender Law Project. The seminar was organized by the Legal Department - Ministry of Health, Institute for Social Studies, Economics and Environment (iSEE), with many participants from VNTG Network.

      In March 2016, Loving Milk, a program initiated by SCDI with the donation from Danone Vietnam CO., LTD, had provided more than 43 tons of power milk for more than 20,000 disadvantaged children in 40 provinces in Vietnam.

      Summer Camp is an annual activity to support the participation of children with disadvantaged background in Vietnam. Joining Summer Camp, the children can participate in many educative as well as interactive activities. Classes providing useful knowledge and life-skills are integrated with enjoyable activities in a healthy and positive environment to boost and motivate the children’s participation.

      On the morning of May 11th, 2017, at the conference hall of Hai Duong Department of Health, SCDI collaborated with Department of Health in organizing the Workshop on FORCETB Project, in order to discuss and agree on the implementation plan and coordination mechanism between CBOs and the Health system of Hai Duong province, in tuberculosis (TB) prevention.

      In January 11th, 2017, more than 30 CBOs representatives from key malaria zones in Vietnam (Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai), state agencies officials, international experts and SCDI gathered in Hanoi to discuss about ending malaria epidemics  for Global Fund recommendations for the period of 2018-2020.

      In preparation for the 8th RSC (RAI Steering Committee) in Siem Reap, from 4th to 5th October 2016, the Regional Malaria CSOs Consultation Workshop was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Organized by the Regional Malaria CSO Platform, the event forms an important part of the regional-level dialogue for the next funding cycle.

For that reason, on March 31st, 2017, a workshop on policy dialogues regarding the law enforcement on HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution took place in Ho Chi Minh City.

      In March 2017, Dr Khuat Thi Hai Oanh, SCDI Director has traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to attend the meeting of WHO's Technical and Strategic Advisory Committee on HIV, Hepatitis Virus and to Paris, France to join the advisory committee for the preparation of 9th IAS Conference on HIV Science (IAS 2017).
